Polimi students: entry requirements for the Master of Science programme
 

Obtain Your English Language Certification
To be admitted to the Master of Science (M.Sc.) programmes, Politecnico di Milano requires mandatory, certified knowledge of the English language, in accordance with the levels specified in the table on the Master's degree students webpage.
You should obtain your language certification well in advance: the School of Design requires it by the application deadline.
The University provides a lump-sum reimbursement of €100.00 to cover the examination costs. Further information is available on the Financial Aid page.

Monitor Your Weighted GPA
If you are currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) programme at Politecnico di Milano and wish to apply for admission to the Master of Science programmes at the School of Design, you must monitor your weighted GPA. You must have a minimum GPA of 23/30 to participate in the selection process.

Plan Your Academic Career Ahead of Admission
If you are enrolled in a Bachelor's programme at the School of Design, you may have the opportunity to access consecutive Master of Science tracks without being subject to an evaluation process (automatic admission).

IF your background is in:

• Interior Design and you wish to enrol in Interior and Spatial Design
• Industrial Product Design and you wish to enrol in Integrated Product Design or Design & Engineering
• Communication Design and you wish to enrol in Communication Design
• Fashion Design and you wish to enrol in Design for the Fashion System
• Interaction Design and you wish to enrol in Digital and Interaction Design

AND you meet specific academic career requirements, you will only need to submit an expression of interest for enrolment.
Furthermore, you may apply for the Master of Science in Product Service System Design, which is consecutive to all Bachelor's programmes. Up until the 2026/2027 academic year, the Master of Science in Digital and Interaction Design will also be considered consecutive to all tracks.

UP UNTIL THE 2027/2028 ACADEMIC YEAR
The requirements to exercise the right to automatic admission are:

• Graduation achieved within 4 years from initial enrolment;
• At least 114 ECTS (CFU) completed and a weighted GPA of at least 27/30 by October 10th of the second calendar year following initial matriculation (28/30 for Product Service System Design and Digital and Interaction Design);
• Possession of a valid English language certification at the time of enrolment.

For enrolment in subsequent years, access will only be permitted via a merit-based evaluation.
Should you wish to apply for other programmes, you may submit an application for an individual background assessment by uploading the documentation required for the evaluation.
